2014 OC FAIR & EVENT CENTER COMMERCIAL WINE COMPETITION
ENTRY INFORMATION
- Eligibility: Only wine produced from grapes grown in California and commercially available for sale in Orange County by July 1, 2014, in the following categories are eligible to be entered:
- All varietal wines
- All sparkling wines
- All dessert and aperitif (fortified) wines
- All generic wines (only those available in 1.5 liter or smaller containers)
- All proprietary wines
- All Italian-style, Meritage-style, and Rhone-style blends
- All California-Rhone-style blends (may contain 25% of other varietals along with traditional Rhone grapes)
Note: Commercial availability requires that the wine be readily available for sale to Orange County merchants or consumers on July 1, 2014. The wine does not need to be present in Orange County for direct purchase at retail stores on that date to qualify.
All wines entered must meet BATF regulations and conform to applicable State of California laws regarding label terminology and designations.
Only the most current release (as of July 1, 2014) of any wine is eligible. Multiple entries of the same varietal should only be entered if there are distinct differences reflected on the label, for example: appellation, reserve, vintage vs. non-vintage, vineyard, etc.

THERE ARE NO FEES FOR ENTRY
- Entry Form Instructions: Please complete all winery information on the top portion of the entry form. List entries of secondary labels on separate entry. Please enter winery name, mailing address, winery address and parent company. Note: For purposes of this competition, negociants are no different than actual bonded wineries.
Please fill in all information from the front label that identifies your wine.
Wine Identification Enter in the following sequence: Proprietary Name: Name if assigned (e.g., 'Ruby Fascination') Geographic Location: Location (e.g., Napa Valley) Wine Designations: As applicable; vineyard, reserve, estate bottled (e.g., Stags Leap District, Estate Bottled) Wine Descriptions: As applicable; fermentation, finish, filtering and other data (e.g., barrel fermented, late harvest, unfiltered, soft) Residual Sugar % Enter precise measured sugar level percentage, regardless of varietal or color. Using the word "dry" is not sufficient. Submitted Bottle Enter the bottle size and the suggested retail price of the bottle size submitted.
NOTE: Wines are judged by type or varietal in price and sugar categories; therefore, it is important that entries be completely accurate so that your wines will be judged in their appropriate categories. - Bottle Entry: Please submit six (6) 750 ml. bottles or equivalent of each wine entered.
- Shipping Instructions: Please ship a copy of your entry form with the six (6) 750 ml. bottles of each wine to arrive NO LATER THAN MAY 9, 2014. Early shipments will be greatly appreciated. Include four ACTUAL LABELS of each entry for our label competition. The labels are necessary to clarify the entry form and to compare and verify the received bottles. This insures the entry form and the bottles match the intent of the winery.
Ship all wines freight prepaid - no CODs will be accepted.
Mark all boxes on the outside "OCWS WINE COMPETITION". If you are shipping more than one box, please mark all boxes "1 of 3", "2 of 3", "3 of 3", etc.
Please ship your wines as soon as possible. Late shipments may cause a wine to show poorly or to be inadvertently omitted from the judging. If a local distributor is used to deliver your wines, please make sure they are aware of the delivery deadlines. Pack your wines well.
